3D printed with ceramic material

Extraordinary objects

About an Artist

Irina Flore is a multidisciplinary designer and the founder of Studio Flore, a design studio focusing on design research, functional art objects, and innovative products.

She started working as an assistant designer in the Studio Sebastian Herkner in Frankfurt, Germany.
Irina's design practice focuses on functional art – everyday objects.

Each design has an elaborated process with material, form, and function research. The fabrication and the process are essential aspects of her designs' narrative. Her design practice focuses on advanced technologies but also old traditions and crafts.

Irina says:

"These results are not ordinary shapes, but they are ordinary through their function, and they have to be understood before being used. The Extraordinary objects are results of research work on form and function while questioning our relationship and interaction with everyday objects.

When I chose to work with 3D printing clay, I intended to design complex shapes that were easy to achieve with the 3D printing method but more challenging with the traditional slip casting."

When I chose to work with 3D printing ceramics, I intended to design complex shapes that were easy to achieve with the 3D printing method but more challenging with the traditional slip casting. These objects are in a continuous transformation.
Their form is changing according to our angle view.
